“Deals damage to nearby enemies, only popping up when one's in range… or if it needs little stretch”
The Tesla is a building that belongs to the Building: Tesla Modifier. It can also be spawned by the Battle Machine. It spawns a multi-target ranged building with moderate hitpoints, very low damage, and very high attack speed. The Tesla hides itself when an enemy unit isn't in its range, being untargetable by anything when hidden. The Tesla takes the appearance of a wooden lattice structure with a metal coil, cone and sphere placed on top of it surrounded by blue supports, a wire coiled around one of its pillar, and a wooden trapdoor with blue hinges.
Strategy[]
- The Tesla is a pretty strong building to have, especially when the player has a lot of ranged troops, because it will make enemy troops draw closer to it, making it targetable and providing extra distraction for the player's team to take enemies down. Because of this, the Tesla is best placed in the first row from the enemy's side.
- Tesla's rapid attack speed not only mitigates its very low damage, but also allows it to quickly chip enemy units' hitpoints.
- Tesla's quick attack speed makes it an excellent pair with Inferno Tower when the player is using Battle Machine, especially one in the second row from the enemy's side. Because Tesla is best placed in the first row while the Inferno Tower is best placed in the second row, the Tesla's hiding mechanic allows enemy troops to be lured by the Inferno Tower, but eventually triggering the Tesla, causing the target to be damaged by both Inferno Tower's ramp-up damage and Tesla's rapid damage. The latter's very high attack speed also allows for frailer troops to be defeated quicker so that Inferno Tower can target the healthier troops.
- Because the Tesla does not deal damage and has a short range, it can be placed in the bench so that the player is not forced to have the Tesla stuck in a single position for the rest of the game. This allows the Tesla to be placed in the second-to-last row from the enemy's side if one or more of the player's enemies is using
Assassin troops. - When on a higher merge level, the Tesla is able to better control the battlefield because it will begin attacking multiple troops.

Trivia[]
- The card's name is a reference to Nikola Tesla, a famous scientist known for working with electricity. It is based on one of his inventions, the Tesla coil which wirelessly transmits electricity to the destination; the way tesla coil transmits electricity appears similar to how the Tesla attacks.
- In the Spanish, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese language settings of the game, the Tesla's name translates to "Tesla Tower", "Thunderbolt Tower", "Tesla Electromagnetic Tower", and "Electric Arc Tower" respectively.
- Electricity was first detected through electric fish from as far back as 2750 BCE where Ancient Egyptian texts described them as the "protectors" of all other fish. At around 600 BCE, Thales of Miletus made a series of observations on static electricity, from which he believed that friction rendered amber magnetic, in contrast to minerals such as magnetite, which needed no rubbing. Thales was incorrect in believing the attraction was due to a magnetic effect, but later science would prove a link between magnetism and electricity. Electricity would remain little more than an intellectual curiosity for millennia until 1600, when the English scientist William Gilbert wrote De Magnete, in which he made a careful study of electricity and magnetism, distinguishing the lodestone effect from static electricity produced by rubbing amber.
- The Tesla is 1 of 3 Merge Tactics units associated with electricity, with the others being Electro Giant and Electro Wizard.
- The Tesla is the only Merge Tactics building associated with electricity. It is also the only Merge Tactics unit associated with electricity that does not stun.
- The Tesla is 1 of 5 Merge Tactics buildings which first existed in Clash of Clans, the others being Inferno Tower, Mortar, X-Bow, and Elixir Collector.
- The Tesla is one of the first buildings to be added to Merge Tactics, alongside the Inferno Tower, Mortar, X-Bow, and the Elixir Collector.
- The Tesla's description "[…] only popping up if one's in range… or if it needs little stretch" implies that it is an alive building with feelings.
- The Tesla has the shortest range out of all Merge Tactics buildings, with a range of 2 hexes.
