The Super Lava Hound was a temporary Legendary card, only available in certain Events. It spawned a slow, single-target, building-targeting, short-ranged, air troop with very high hitpoints and very low damage. when defeated, three fireballs were dropped, dealing high damage, and it also bursted into 2 spread-out smaller Lava Hounds which had the same amount of damage but much lower hitpoints. Like their larger counterpart, when defeated, they would also burst into 4 spread-out Lava Pups which had slightly higher damage but much lower hitpoints. The Super Lava Hound appears to be a flying, burning rock beast with an underbite, short wings, small rocky dog ears, team-colored spikes on its back, and small limbs. A Super Lava Hound card costs 8 Elixir to deploy.

- Like the Lava Hound, the Super Lava Hound is a great air tank with high hitpoints. It is best used as a shield for air troops with higher damage and fewer hitpoints like Evolved Bats, Minion Horde, Mega Minion, Phoenix, Flying Machine, or the Inferno Dragon. It is less effective to use the Super Lava Hound as a shield for ground troops as the opponent can use troops with ground-only targeting to bypass the Super Lava Hound.
- The Super Lava Hound has a lower sight range compared to other troops that only target buildings. Its sight range matches that of most non-building-targeting troops, like the Knight. This means that it can bypass certain building placements, as opposed to a Golem or a Balloon.
- Unlike the Lava Hound, the Super Lava Hound has death damage, which means that certain cards can be severely damaged or possibly killed from the death damage. As such, ranged troops should be placed at a distance from the Super Lava Hound, to prevent them from taking unnecessary damage.
- Destroying one Mini Lava Hound will result in the other one tanking for the Lava Pups. In this case, make sure that the Lava Pups are defeated before the other Mini Lava Hound, otherwise, more Lava Pups will spawn, and the Crown Tower will struggle to keep up.
- The Tornado and Executioner combo is very effective in destroying the Super Lava Hound and its support troops. The Tornado brings all the troops to the same spot, so the Executioner can hit all of them at once. If the Executioner defeats the Lava Hound, he can also hit the generated Mini Lava Hounds at once. Similarly, every Mini Lava Hound defeated by the Executioner will result in the spawned Lava Pups being hit as well. The Tornado can also pull things back, giving your Executioner more time to defeat them, as well as positioning the Super Lava Hound in such a way as to avoid the death damage from affecting the Crown Tower or the Executioner.
- The Firecracker/Executioner/Wizard and the Super Lava Hound are a good partnership. The Firecracker/Executioner/Wizard defends the Lava Hound from defending units, but the combination costs 11 and 13 Elixir. The Firecracker can also act as bait for Arrows, to ensure that the Lava Pups can attack unharmed.
- The LavaLoon is a popular strategy where the Super Lava Hound tanks for a Balloon while it wreaks havoc on the Towers.
- However, this strategy is easily countered if the troops have no support, as the Balloon can be destroyed before the Super Lava Hound. For example, the Minion Horde or Bats can easily destroy the Balloon before it deals damage to the Tower and proceed to destroy the Super Lava Hound. So a support unit behind them like a Baby Dragon, Skeleton Dragons, or an Evolved Electro Dragon is crucial to protect the Balloon from swarm units, although this would make the combo very costly.
- It can also be easily defeated by the Wizard or the Executioner. Place the Wizard or Executioner correctly so that he targets the Balloon. When the Balloon dies, support the Wizard or Executioner with other troops to finish off the Super Lava Hound and its Lava Pups. Thus having a Mega Minion or a Flying Machine supporting them could also come in handy.
