“The Royal Recruits have been taking lessons from Prince. Once their shields have been broken, they will begin an epic charge!”

The Royal Recruits' Evolution is a Common card that is unlocked with 6 Evolution Shards. It spawns 6 Royal Recruits with identical stats to the originals. After their shield is destroyed and travels 1.5 tiles, they will begin to charge towards their target and deal 1.95x damage if they hit the target whilst charging. The Royal Recruits' Evolution costs 7 Elixir and requires 1 cycle to deploy.

Strategy[]

  • The Evolved Royal Recruits are a powerful defensive card because of how they are deployed, allowing good defensive troops to come from both lanes.
  • The Evolved Royal Recruits should never be ignored as they will destroy both Crown Towers when left alone. This goes for any tower troop.
  • The Evolved Royal Recruits are best used when on defense because they can easily defend both lanes and apply a threatening counterpush when their shields are knocked off.
  • Despite their horizontal formation, they can be split in slightly different ways by shifting the central tile of their deployment pattern to the left or right. This can cause 4 Evolved Royal Recruits to go in one lane and 2 in the other lane as opposed to the usual even formation. This makes them a good choice for split lane pushes.
  • Unlike other cards, the Evolved Royal Recruits cannot be placed in the opponent's territory if one Crown Tower has been destroyed. Instead, they need both Crown Towers to be destroyed to be placed in the opponent's territory.
  • The Evolved Royal Recruits have great synergy with the Royal Hogs as the Royal Hogs will entice a strong spell, such as Fireball, from the opponent, knocking off their shields and causing them to charge. The Evolved Royal Recruits can tank for the Royal Hogs after the Fireball, allowing them to get damage on the Crown Tower.
  • The best way to counter the Evolved Royal Recruits is to use a card that deals area damage, such as an Executioner, and a tank, such as an Ice Golem or Knight, in between your Crown Towers. This will make the Evolved Royal Recruits group up and make it easier to hit each Evolved Royal Recruit. Other cards, such as a combination of Bomb Tower and Valkyrie, can achieve the same feat.
  • Spells are very situational counters to the Evolved Royal Recruits as their shields will absorb the spell's damage without harming the unit itself. Once the shields are knocked off, then a strong spell like Fireball, can be used to take them out as they charge.
  • Arrows have a great synergy with the Evolved Royal Recruits as the Arrows will easily take out any fragile swarm, such as Skeleton Army, or ranged unit, such as Firecracker, your opponent might place to counter them.
  • Because of their horizontal formation, they can be used defensively even against splash units. This is especially useful against the Mega Knight, as their formation minimizes the number of Royal Recruits that are hit by a single attack from the Mega Knight.
  • Due to their shields absorbing the damage, the Evolved Royal Recruits are very strong at taking the Giant Bomb from a Giant Skeleton. Additionally, they will begin charging, putting the opponent in a difficult situation.
  • Since they cannot attack air troops, they can be weakened by splitting air swarms, like the Bats and Skeleton Dragons. However, note that this will allow them to charge due to their shields being destroyed, so only try this if the air swarms are supported with a ground distraction.
  • The Evolved Royal Recruits have a slightly longer range than other melee troops, thus allowing them to safely attack distracted lower-range non-splash and splash cards alike, such as the Evolved Skeletons and Valkyrie, without taking damage in return.
  • Despite their charging, a lone Bowler can easily stop 1 lane of Evolved Royal Recruits when aligned with them. If he is placed in the center of the player's territory and combined with another card like an Ice Golem, he is able to fully stop both lanes.
