“Royal Chef cooks a mean Pancake and throws it to your Troop with the most Hitpoints, increasing their Level by 1. Pancakes take longer to cook when he's attacking, and he serves Troops who haven't eaten yet”

The Royal Chef is a Legendary card that is unlocked from Rascal's Hideout (Arena 13). It is a single-target, air-targeting, long-ranged tower troop with moderate hitpoints and low damage. Around every 21 seconds, he will throw a pancake at an allied troop on the Arena, increasing their Level by 1. The Royal Chef appears to be a man with a gold tooth, a blue moustache, a white hat which covers his eyes and shirt with team-colored cuffs, a brown apron with gold buttons, a belt with a crown emblem, team-colored pants, carries a pan and a spatula, and has a peg leg.

  • The Royal Chef and his pancakes prioritizes higher-hitpoint troops over the lower ones. This makes him great to be used in decks with large tanks, such as Giant, Golem, Electro Giant, Goblin Giant, Lava Hound and Royal Giant decks.
  • The Royal Chef will try to spread out the pancakes into multiple troops instead of concentrating all of them into one troop. For example, in a Goblin Giant-Sparky push, if the Goblin Giant has already received a pancake, then the Sparky will receive the next pancake.
  • The Royal Chef will ignore troops with less than 33% of their maximum health for pancake-giving purposes. He will also ignore any building.
  • Aside for regular stats, the pancakes of the Royal Chef will affect most unique effects of the troops that are fed.
    • Troops with shields can be fed and their shield will inherit the stat boost from the extra Level, just like their regular hitpoints do.
    • Fed units that spawn other troops, whether periodically (like the Witch or Night Witch) or upon death (like the Skeleton Barrel, Goblin Giant, Golem, Elixir Golem, Battle Ram, or Lava Hound) will spawn leveled-up troops. This extends to Champion cards with abilities that spawn other troops like the Skeleton King.
    • Fed units can still cause various death effects.
      • Like the other spawning troops, a fed Mother Witch will spawn Cursed Hogs that match her own Level, regardless on the Level of the troop that she has cursed.
      • A fed Lumberjack will drop a leveled-up Rage, allowing the spell to deal more damage.
      • A fed Cannon Cart will drop a leveled-up cannon as a building after its shield has been broken. The fed cannon has the hitpoints of a leveled-up cannon and will expire after 30 seconds per usual.
      • A fed Evolved P.E.K.K.A. and fed Evolved Bats will have their overhealed hitpoints increased as well, in addition to their regular hitpoints. In the case of the Evolved P.E.K.K.A, her healing for each KO will also increase.
      • However, in the case of death damage manifesting as bombs dropped by units such as Giant Skeleton or Balloon, the bomb cannot be fed, though their parent troops will still drop a leveled-up bomb if fed.
    • A fed Goblin Giant will affect both the Goblin Giant and his Spear Goblins on his backpack, as well as when they spawn after death. A Ram Rider functions in a similar manner.
    • Since the troop fed by the pancake will have already spawned, fed Ice Wizards, Electro Wizards and Mega Knights will not have their spawn damage raised, and a fed Battle Healer will not have her spawn healing raised.
  • The cooking speed will change depending on if 0/1/2 attacks, so it's a good idea to pressure if someone is trying to build up the levels.
  • If one tower is destroyed, the cooking speed will slow down (like it's attacking). If both towers are destroyed, the cooking will stop completely.
  • The Royal Chef can level up troops past the Level cap. It's possible to level up a single troop multiple during a single match, though this would be tricky to pull off, since you would need to keep that troop above 33% of its max health as well as the fact that the Royal Chef prioritizes troops who haven't been fed yet. This can be done more easily by manipulating the Royal Chef to target the same troop with their cards in the deck being ones untargetable by the Royal Chef (such as using buildings and spells).
  • The pancake can cause a troop to gain enough hitpoints to survive certain spells, making placing these troops in the back safer compared to doing this with other tower troops.
  • The player should be careful when using the Barbarian Barrel and Royal Delivery with this tower troop, as the Barbarian or Royal Recruit will cause the Royal Chef to throw a pancake on them which would remove the opportunity to throw it on a more potent troop. However, the player may want to have the Barbarian or Royal Recruit fed by the pancake if they want to defend more efficiently.
  • The Royal Chef's damage is the same as a Tower Princess', though he attacks slower and has less hitpoints. As such, most strategies used with the Tower Princess will work with the Royal Chef, although it's much less affordable to ignore troops that deal chip damage.

Trivia[]

  • If the Royal Chef throws a pancake to a Mini P.E.K.K.A, the Mini P.E.K.K.A will say "Pancakes" in a higher-pitched voice than his normal deploy sound.
  • The Royal Chef is the subject of 3 Emotes.
  • It is possible for a Monk to deflect a pancake from a Royal Chef with his ability if the Monk is beside the troop targeted by the Royal Chef. The pancake will be deflected back to the opposing King's Tower, raising its Level by 1.
  • Despite starting at Level 9, it is possible to unlock him and use him from as low as Level 8.
  • Before the Royal Chef's card release, the Royal Chef's hitpoints were decreased by 4.61%, his cooking time interval was increased to 18-30 seconds (from 15-25 seconds), and was added a 7 second delay between cooking.
