“Spawns a mischievous trio of Rascals! The boy takes the lead, while the girls pelt enemies from behind... with slingshots full of Double Trouble Gum!”

The Rascals is a Common card that is unlocked from the Rascal's Hideout (Arena 13). It spawns a single-target, ground-targeting, melee, ground troop with high hitpoints and moderate damage output in front of two single-target, air-targeting, medium-ranged, ground troops with low hitpoints and moderate damage. The Rascals features a boy who has black eyes and eyebrows, dons a bowl cut which covers his eyes, wears a team-colored tunic, a black hood and pants, wields a wooden sword, carries a medium-sized pouch on his waist attached with a rope, and is barefoot, with the girls appearing similarly to Archers and being dressed similarly to the boy, except they have brown eyes and aquamarine hair, wear eyepatches, gloves and shoes, and wield slingshots with an attached team-colored rubber band. A Rascals card costs 5 Elixir to deploy.

Strategy

  • The Rascals can be used similarly to a Knight and Archers combo, albeit for 1 less Elixir and with more fragile but stronger “Archers” as well as a weaker but bulkier “Knight”. The Rascal Girls can be used to attack air troops similarly to the Archers, while the Rascal Boy can be used in the same way as a Knight.
  • Left alone, this card can inflict massive damage towards, if not completely destroy, a Crown Tower, regardless of the tower troop used. Always aim to destroy the Rascal Girls first, as they deal more damage per second than the Rascal Boy.
  • Similar to Archers, the Rascals can be split if they are placed in the middle of the Arena. A Rascal Girl will leave the group and go towards the other lane, helping to defend. The lone Rascal Girl will get 1 hit on the Crown Tower, and her respectable damage output means putting a cheap tank in front of her like an Ice Golem, Elixir Golem, Knight, or a Miner is not a bad idea to force a response out of the opponent.
    • By splitting them at the center, the Rascals can counter the Royal Recruits for a +2 Elixir trade, with even a single Rascal Girl surviving for a possible counterpush.
  • The Rascals are weak to a large variety of spells, with some of them being able to OHKO the Rascal Girls while doing some chip damage to the Rascal Boy.
    • The Log, Arrows, and Royal Delivery are excellent at countering this card, as they OHKO the Rascal Girls which is a part of damage. Knowing this, it is not a bad idea to use the Rascals with other spell-vulnerable cards, as the opponent may be forced to spread their spells thin. Goblin Barrel in particular synergizes well as the boy will survive with a majority of his health and can tank for the Goblins spawned from the Goblin Barrel.
    • The Barbarian Barrel is also a very good counter to this card for a positive Elixir trade. The spell cripples the Rascal Girls, while the Barbarian finishes them off and defeats the Rascal Boy with a Crown Tower's assistance. However, in a larger battle with support troops, the Barbarian may not be able to finish off the Rascal Girls.
    • The high Elixir cost of the card makes it weak to a Poison spell. The Poison is able to 3HKO the Rascal Girls while also doing some notable damage to the Rascal Boy.
    • Fireball can be used against the Rascals, similarly to the Poison. It will OHKO the Rascal Girls, and deal some damage to the Rascal Boy. Interestingly, the Rascal Boy is affected by knockback, allowing the Fireball to knock the Rascal Boy, possibly causing him to retarget.
    • If the player wants to ensure that the Rascal Boy will not be a threat, Lightning and Rocket can be used against the trio. Although the Rascal Boy will survive, he will be too weak to pose a threat. However, they are both a negative Elixir trade, so try to hit something else as well with the latter.
  • The Valkyrie is an effective counter to the Rascals, if placed properly, for a positive Elixir trade, since she can destroy the Rascal Girls in one spin and then finish off the Rascal Boy, and can counterpush with most of her hitpoints remaining.
  • The Executioner and the Bowler are great counters to them, as they can splash all 3 Rascals and survive for a counterpush. However, on defense, the player can place the Rascals in such a way that the Bowler or Executioner target the Rascal Boy, allowing the Rascal Girls to survive and deal damage to them.
  • The Mega Knight is also a great counter, since his spawn damage instantly kills the Rascal Girls and can quickly kill the Rascal Boy with almost no hitpoints lost, and can be used in a counter-push.
  • They are great counters against tanks (along with the help of a Crown Tower) such as the P.E.K.K.A, Mega Knight, Giant Skeleton, Boss Bandit, and Mighty Miner for a positive Elixir trade, as the Rascal Boy will absorb all the damage while the Rascal Girls will continuously hit the tank.
  • They can be an effective counter to the Graveyard; the Rascal Girls will attack 2 Skeletons at a time, along with the Tower Princess while the Rascal Boy tanks some hits from the Skeletons. This is a neutral Elixir trade and sets them for a counterpush. However, beware of spells that could destroy the Rascal Girls, like Arrows and Poison, as the Rascal Boy will not be able to keep up.
  • When defending against a Golem or Balloon, it's a good idea to put the Rascals away from the path of the Golem or Balloon, such that the Rascal Girls do not take death damage. This tactic should also be used against the Electro Giant, to avoid the Rascal Girls being destroyed by the Electro Giant's Zap Pack.
  • It is always a good idea to separate the Rascal Boy from the Rascal Girls to prevent the Rascal Girls from getting killed by area damage. This can be done by putting a large tank (for example the Electro Giant) amid the Rascals. On defense, the Rascals should be placed slightly earlier to allow the Rascal Boy to separate from the Rascal Girls so that any area damage support behind the troop that the Rascals are defending against would not gain value by hitting the Rascal Girls.
  • The Rascals can counter 2 of the split Three Musketeers with the help of a tower troop. Both the tower troop and the Rascal Girls will deal damage to the Musketeers while the Rascal Boy tanks for them.
  • The Rascals pair well with the X-Bow and Mortar. The Rascal Boy's high hitpoints acts as a meat-shield for the building, buying it more time to deal damage, while the Rascal Girls will target air troops that the buildings are unable to target.
  • Similarly, they can also work with a Balloon. The Rascal Boy acts as a tank for the Balloon while the Rascal Girls handle air troops that are threatening the Balloon. Unlike Archers, the Rascal Girls are able to 2HKO Minions that are usually used against the Balloon.
  • The Rascals have great synergy with the Skeleton Barrel. Both of them can act as bait for spells and their difference in ranges will force the opponent to use spells on one of the swarms, with the other swarm being protected by the Rascal Boy.
  • They can work quite well with a Dark Prince. The Dark Prince adds splash damage to the trio, improving their matchup against swarms, while he also pushes the Rascal Boy closer to a target thanks to increased speed from his charge.

History

2018

  • The Rascals were once available in the Rascals Draft Challenge, which started on 11/5/2018. In this challenge, gameplay was similar to a regular Draft Challenge, except that one of the players was able to choose who would use the Rascals. If the player achieved 12 wins, they obtained the Rascals early.
  • From 18/5/2018 through 22/5/2018, the Shop had a special offer where Arena 9+ players could buy an unlimited number of special Fortune Chests at the normal price that guarantee at least 50% of the Chest's contents to be Rascals. The Chest was able to generate up to 110% of its contents to be Rascals.
  • The Rascals card was generally released on 25/5/2018.
  • On 2/7/2018, a Balance Update, decreased the Rascal Boy's hitpoints by 5.3% and increased the Rascal Girls' first attack time interval to 1 second (from 0.4 seconds).

2019

  • On 4/3/2019, a Balance Update, gave the Rascals a new 0.15 seconds deploy stagger from each other.
