“A tanky gunner who pushes 3 enemies back every few hits”

The Musketeer is a card that belongs in the Noble and Blaster traits. It spawns a single-target ranged troop with moderate hitpoints, damage, and attack speed. Every few attacks, she will fire a special bullet at the 3 closest enemies, dealing damage, stunning, and knocking them back 2 hexes. If a troop that was knocked back hits another troop that Musketeer didn't target, then that troop will also get knocked back, though without being stunned. The Musketeer takes the appearance of a woman with blue eyes and purple coiffed curly hair and eyebrows, and wears a steel blue tunic with a purple cloth on it, a purple cape, a metal helmet with a blue feather and a tiny crater on it, a belt, metal shoulder pads, and brown boots, while carrying a blunderbuss-styled musket as her weapon with dark gray spheres as her ammunition. A Musketeer card costs 3 Golden Elixir to deploy.

Strategy[]

  • For 3 Elixir, Musketeer is a great support troop, given that her knockback might help the player's troops to position themselves in a favorable position. With the stun that she deals, the team will gain an edge over enemies.
  • Musketeer is also surprisingly durable for a ranged unit, allowing her to survive for longer compared to other ranged troops. This is especially useful against Assassin decks, as she might survive enough to push them back into the frontline, making them target frontline troops instead. This becomes even better the higher merge level she's at, since she requires less hits to deal the stun and knockback.
    • This strategy would also help Blaster troops with dealing more damage, as the targeted enemies will be more distant from the troops, permitting for extra damage due to the distance, as well as help Ranger by giving them more time to get the attack speed buff with each hit.
  • Musketeer's knockback will not work if Juggernaut is active for enemy troops, making her shots go to waste, though generally only one of the knockback bullets are absorbed before they are defeated or the shield's effects wear out.
  • Activating Musketeer's Noble trait will allow her to deal more damage, both with her normal bullets and with her knockback bullets. This happens because she should generally be placed in the backline, where Noble can give her the damage buff. Other Noble troops will also tank for her if they're in the frontline, where they will get Noble's damage reduction buff instead.
  • Activating her Blaster trait allows her to deal more damage the further away she is from her target. Due to her knockback bullets, she'll also help herself and other Blaster units to deal the most damage possible from the trait's effect.

Trivia[]

  • The musket is a muzzle-loaded long gun that appeared as a smoothbore weapon in the early 16th century, at first as a heavier variant of the arquebus, capable of penetrating plate armour. By the mid-16th century, this type of musket gradually disappeared as the use of heavy armour declined, but muskets continued as the generic term for smoothbore long guns until the mid-19th century. In turn, this style of musket was retired in the 19th century when rifles became common.
    • In the Arabic and Persian language settings of the game, the Musketeer's name translates to "Knight" and "Riflewoman" respectively.
    • The Musketeer is 1 of 9 Merge Tactics troops associated with nobility, with the others being Knight, Prince, Mega Knight, Princess, Royal Ghost, Golden Knight, Skeleton King, and the Archer Queen.
      • Despite not bearing a title of nobility, the Musketeer is a Noble troop, likely because musketeers were considered to be the King's guard.
        • The Musketeer is the only Noble troop that does not bear a title of nobility.
