“Mega Knight's other great love, besides his mustache, is boxing. With each attack, this Evolution uppercuts his target and sends them flying toward the nearest enemy Crown Tower.”

The Mega Knight Evolution is a Legendary card that is unlocked with 6 Evolution Shards. It spawns a Mega Knight with identical stats to the original. Every time he attacks, the Evolved Mega Knight will do an uppercut, launching the targeted troop back 4 tiles towards the nearest enemy Crown Tower. The Mega Knight’s Evolution costs 7 Elixir and requires 1 cycle to deploy.

Strategy[]

  • The Evolved Mega Knight is an extremely powerful defensive wall, capable of defending most large tank pushes with ease. The bulk of this power comes from his uppercut, hurling bulky win conditions far behind their support troops. In many cases, this will utterly destroy the foundation of the opponent’s offense and result in a positive Elixir trade.
  • The pushback dealt by the Mega Knight's uppercut puts the targeted troop within the distance required for his jump to trigger, allowing for an uppercut-jump combo in many cases. If the targeted troop is within jumping range and there aren't other units in the way, the Mega Knight will bypass the charging time and immediately jump.
    • Due to this, the Evolved Mega Knight is extremely effective when used against a single tank like a Royal Giant. He will repeatedly deal pushback and jump on the troop until he reaches the enemy Crown Tower.
  • The Evolved Mega Knight should never be ignored under essentially all circumstances; a tower trade being the only exception. Doing so will result a Crown Tower loss and notable damage to the King Tower.
  • Although the Evolved Mega Knight’s uppercuts still deal area damage, only the troop he's targeting will be dealt pushback. Thus, if a heavy ground swarm, such as Barbarians, is used against him, he will only pushback one Barbarian at a time while the rest will continue attacking him. This will prevent the Evolved Mega Knight from jumping and deal enough DPS to fully counter it with the Crown Tower’s help. Make sure that the swarm surrounds the Mega Knight, to prevent the troops from getting too much damage.
  • The Evolved Mega Knight’s pushback always launches a troop towards the enemy Crown Tower in a straight line. Cards with piercing attacks like Magic Archer and Evolved Bomber can easily take advantage of this, allowing them to hit the Crown Tower from the opposite side with ease.
  • Unlike the regular Mega Knight, the Evolved Mega Knight can’t be fully countered with any sort of mini tank. His 4 tile pushback will consistently interrupt their attack and leave them susceptible to his jump. Over time, this cycle will be repeated, leaving the Evolved Mega Knight healthy by the end of the interaction.
    • However, if the user is using the Cannoneer, all the Champions, with their abilities, can just barely fully counter him when deployed properly.
    • When the Evolved Mega Knight uses his uppercut against a Prince, the Prince will start immediately charging and will hit the Evolved Mega Knight with his charge, accumulating a lot of damage to him. The Prince's charges deals more damage than the Evolved Mega Knight's jumps, which even out the interaction of the two, despite the Prince's significantly lower hitpoints.
  • The Evolved Mega Knight can force any troop off the Crown Tower with his pushback, saving it from taking any further damage while he’s still in the arena. This is especially useful against Giant Skeleton and P.E.K.K.A, due to their death damage and high DPS respectively being highly threatening to the Crown Tower.
  • The Inferno Tower is easily the best single card counter to the Evolved Mega Knight. As a building, the Inferno Tower can’t take pushback from the Evolved Mega Knight’s uppercuts or jump. The incredibly high DPS, when fully charged, can also rapidly deplete his hitpoints, fully counter in tithe Evolved Mega Knight for a +2 Elixir trade.
    • It’s extremely important to pay attention to the opponent’s deck in order to maintain the consistency of this interaction. Cards that stun or do heavy damage to buildings, like Zap and Earthquake, can completely alter this interaction into the opponent’s favor.
    • A similar, more cost effective strategy works with the Inferno Dragon. However, it has a smaller range and as a flying troop, it won’t distract the Mega Knight. Therefore, it’s recommended to use another card, such as an Evolved Ice Spirit, to give the Inferno Dragon more time.
    • Unlike the Inferno Tower and Inferno Dragon, the Mighty Miner is a poor counter to the Evolved Mega Knight. The Evolved Mega Knight’s pushback will constantly interrupt his drill charge, keeping the Mighty Miner at stage one throughout the entire interaction.
  • A powerful combo is pairing him with the Ram Rider, as he’ll instantly destroy stun cards, like Zappies and Evolved Tesla, that will stop the Ram Rider. They also cannot distract both simultaneously with troops, which is important as the opponent will likely have to overcommit to prevent the Ram Rider from getting damage on the Crown Tower. Furthermore, the Ram Rider’s snares puts many defensive troops within the Evolved Mega Knight’s jump damage threshold, wiping them out quicker. Lastly, the Evolved Mega Knight’s pushback will significantly aid in crushing counters to the Ram Rider, such as Bowler, allowing her to reach the Crown Tower with more hitpoints.
    • A similar, more cost effective strategy works with the Hog Rider and Battle Ram. However, his lack of snares makes this combo slightly easier to counter.

Trivia[]

  • The word "Knight" comes from the German "Knecht", meaning servant or vassal. Originally, knights were associated with mounted warriors, later being considered a class of lower nobility, until eventually, knighthood had become associated with the ideals of chivalry, a code of conduct for the perfect courtly Christian warrior. Often, a knight was a vassal who served as an elite fighter or a bodyguard for a lord, with payment in the form of land holdings.
    • In the Chinese and Vietnamese language settings of the game, the Mega Knight's name translates to "Super Knight". In the Italian and Arabic language settings of the game, the Mega Knight's name translates to "Great Knight" and "Giant Knight" respectively.
  • The Mega Knight’s Evolution is the subject of a few Emotes.
  • Upon deployment, the Evolved Mega Knight will say “Mega Knight.”
  • The Evolved Mega Knight's Mega Uppercut ability may have been inspired by an old feature for the Mega Knight in the now-deleted Clash Mini.
  • The Mega Knight’s Evolution was the first Legendary Evolution to be officially added in the game.
  • The Mega Knight’s Evolution is tied with the P.E.K.K.A’s Evolution and the Royal Recruits’ Evolution as the most expensive Card Evolution to be placed, costing 14 Elixir (excluding Elixir from using other cards).
  • When the Evolved Mega Knight is defeated, his spiked fists fall to the ground. The other units that drop items upon death are the Knight, Rascal Boy, Mega Minion, Dark Prince, Executioner, Sparky, Fisherman, Golden Knight, Little Prince, and Little Prince's Guardian.
    • The Evolved Mega Knight is the first Evolution to retain the item drop of the original card.
  • The Evolved Mega Knight was originally an April Fool’s joke in a video released by the official Clash Royale YouTube channel.
  • From September 14th, 2024 to September 24th, 2024, an event was hosted that would unlock the Evolved Mega Knight for free if 55 Crowns were collected for 6 out of the 10 days available.
