“Not only has his facial hair got an upgrade, the knight’s armor has too! Evolved Knight has a special Shield that reduces Damage unless he is attacking.”
The Knight Evolution is a Common card that is unlocked with 6 Evolution Shards. It spawns a Knight with identical stats to the original. When he moves forward, he receives 60% less damage from all sources. The Knight's Evolution costs 3 Elixir and requires 2 cycles to deploy.
Strategy[]
- The Evolved Knight is great for absorbing damage from other troops, particularly ranged units, like the Musketeer.
- However, certain ranged units, such as the Evolved Bomber and Magic Archer, may benefit from the damage reduction as it could allow them to hit the Crown Tower from across the bridge more often.
- The Evolved Knight may be ignored under certain situations as doing so will result in just slightly more than half the Tower Princess’ and Cannoneer’s health being taken.
- The same can’t be said for the Dagger Duchess. Her 8 initial daggers will do essentially nothing to him if he’s moving, causing her to shift into dagger cooldown. This will cause the Evolved Knight to eventually take out the Dagger Duchess entirely.
- Kiting the Evolved Knight into the other lane with an Ice Golem is less effective than the regular Knight due to his shield.
- Instead, it's recommended to pair the Ice Golem with another card, such as Spear Goblins. The Ice Golem will deactivate the Evolved Knight's shield and take hits while the Spear Goblins do the majority of the damage. While this is a slight negative Elixir trade, a few Spear Goblins may still be alive for a counterattack.
- He is less effective against ground melee troops, as he will lose his damage reduction once he starts attacking them. However, he can still work against a charging Prince, due to the Prince's higher range.
- Even though he cannot target air troops, Minions and Bats will take a long time to defeat him, leaving enough time for support troops to defeat them.
- Conversely, the Minions and Bats have very good synergy with the Evolved Knight as his shield and cheap cost can be used to apply great pressure to the opponent under certain situations. Additionally, these combinations can be used on defense to mitigate or even stop a large push for a decent cost.
- Due to his high health, he can be used to protect lower-health troops used on defense from Lightning, such as a Wizard or Electro Dragon.
- The Evolved Knight has a great synergy in particular with Goblin Barrel decks. His low cost and relatively high hitpoints allow him to easily be used to attack with the Goblin Barrel, making the Goblins much harder to take down if a Zap or Giant Snowball is their only spell. However, The Log or Barbarian Barrel will still counter the Goblin Barrel even if the Knight is tanking for them, so it is not recommended to use him in a combo when these cards are in the opponent's hand.
- The Evolved Knight is also a decent counter to a Goblin Barrel if the player has no other counters, because he OHKOs Goblins. He should be placed on the side of the player's Crown Tower closest to the edge of the Arena so he can take out the Goblin the Tower isn't targeting; this allows for more effective damage distribution between the player's units and often results in less damage taken.
- Using this similar strategy, you can pair him with Graveyard too, although this is a more costly synergy at 8 Elixir.
- If you place him 1 tile into the opposite lane of where your opponent's Sparky is, you can tank two shots from the Sparky and have the Knight at high health for a great counterpush.
- If paired with cheaper troops such as Archers, Goblins, or Minions, the Evolved Knight can counter Three Musketeers for at most a +4 Elixir trade.
- The Evolved Knight will lose the damage reduction once he starts attacking. Because of this, large swarms like the Skeleton Army, Tombstone, Witch, and Barbarians make good counters to him, as they will distract him for longer, taking him longer to generate his block again.
- The Evolved Knight is a very effective counter against X-Bow due to his shield effect and significantly higher hitpoints making the X-Bow's shots do very little damage to him.
- On the other hand, the Evolved Knight also works very well with X-Bow due to its ability to take large amounts of damage, and take down large tanks and ranged units quickly for the X-Bow to lock onto the Tower. A similar strategy works with the Mortar and Evolved Mortar.
- Spells should never be used to counter a lone Evolved Knight, as he is just 3 Elixir and spells deal little damage to him while moving.
- The Battle Ram and Wall Breakers form a good combo with the Evolved Knight. The Evolved Knight would be placed at the front where he would absorb ranged attacks while the Battle Ram or Wall Breakers pushes him to the Crown Tower. A similar strategy can work with the Hog Rider and Ram Rider.
- Skeleton Army can counter these pushes for a positive Elixir trade. Beware of spells that may accompany these pushes, such as Zap.
- However, if the Evolved Wall Breakers are used, the Skeleton Army will be destroyed by their exploding Barrels, allowing the Runners and Evolved Knight to devastate the Crown Towers.
- Despite its extremely high DPS, the Evolved Knight while moving can tank a Stage 3 Inferno Tower or Inferno Dragon for several seconds. This can be used to buy time for certain cards that Inferno Tower counters, such as Electro Giant and Golem.
- When paired with the Cannoneer, Goblins can fully counter the Evolved Knight if lured to the center of the player's territory.

Trivia[]
- The word "Knight" comes from the German "Knecht", meaning servant or vassal. Originally, knights were associated with mounted warriors, later being considered a class of lower nobility, until eventually, knighthood had become associated with the ideals of chivalry, a code of conduct for the perfect courtly Christian warrior. Often, a knight was a vassal who served as an elite fighter or a bodyguard for a lord, with payment in the form of land holdings.
- Along with the Barbarians, Electro Wizard, and Lumberjack, he is voice acted by John Mondelli.
- According to John Mondelli, the Knight has a French accent.
- While not available as a character, the Knight's sounds, along with the Barbarians, Wizard, and Dark Prince, are featured in the Clash Royale Theme song in Beatstar.
- The Knight's Evolution is the subject of an Emote.
