“Gold is used to upgrade and to buy cards.”
Gold is a resource that can be used to upgrade Cards, buy Cosmetics, Cards and Elite Wild Cards from the Shop, or to create a Clan. Gold is found in Chests and Lucky Drops, received from donating Cards to other Clan members, earned from winning the first 4 battles, and can be rewarded for reaching a certain amount of wins in some Special Event Challenges. It can also be bought with Gems.
Obtaining
- Gold is found in every Chest except for the Legendary, and Champion Chests. The amount varies based on the type of chest and the player's current Arena.
- Gold can also be found in ★, ★★, ★★★, and ★★★★ Lucky Drops. The amount of Gold gained depends on the player's current Arena, with higher rarity Lucky Drops giving more Gold.
- Gold is also received when donating Cards. 5 Gold is awarded for each Common card, 50 Gold for each Rare card, and 500 Gold for each Epic card donated.
- Gold can be occasionally found as a free daily bonus in the Shop.
- Gold is obtained after winning the first 4 match per day.
- Clan Wars offer gold per battle win. Amount depending on the league the Clan is in.
- Gold can be earned during a Gold Rush Event.
- Gold can be obtained in challenges, at win 1-2-4-5-7-8-9

- Gold is also available in the Season Shop. It can be purchased a total of 30 times per season, with the first 10 attempts costing 400 Season Tokens, and increasing to 800 and 1,200 for the next 10 and last 10 attempts respectively.

- A small amount of Gold is rewarded upon winning a match on the Trophy Road, Ranked, and Events Tab. This can be done a maximum of 20 times daily (counting wins across all of these types of matches).

- Gold purchases have discounts. Bigger purchases cost less Gems per Gold. Gold can be bought for the following amounts of Gems:

Hoggy Bank
- The Hoggy Bank is a pack that can be purchased. During its availability, any additional Gold earned will be stored inside the Hoggy Bank. If it gets filled completely, the player can purchase it for $1.99, $3.99, and $5.99 respectively to receive the Gold stored.
Gold Usage
- Gold is primarily used to upgrade Cards; however, the amount needed increases as the card Levels increase.
- In addition, Gold can be used to buy extra Cards from the Shop, with an average cost of 10 Gold for Common, 50 for Rare, 200 for Epic, and 15,000 for Legendary cards.
- 100,000 Gold can be used to buy Elite Wild Cards once.
- An Emote can be bought for 500,000, while a tower skin can be bought for 1,000,000.
- Creating a Clan requires 1,000 Gold.
History
2016
- Gold was added with Clash Royale's game launch on 4/1/2016.
- On 2/2/2016, the February 2016 Update, removed the battle costs for Battles & Friendly Battles.
- On 3/5/2016, the May 2016 Update, increased the maximum Gold cap to 1,000,000 (from 500,000) and added Victory Gold.
2018
- On 20/6/2018, the Summer 2018 Update, increased the maximum Gold cap to 5,000,000 (from 1,000,000).
2019
- On 3/7/2019, a maintenance break, corrected the Victory Gold given after battle.
- On 26/11/2019, the End of November 2019 Update, made Victory Gold consistent with the player's Arena.
2022
- On 26/10/2022, the 2022 Quarter 3 Update, added the Hoggy Bank.
2023
- On 23/10/2023, the End of October 2023 Update, made it so that Hoggy Bank would not accumulate when cancelling a trade.
2025
- On 31/3/2025, the 2025 Quarter 1 Update, removed the victory gold and made it so you can get gold after winning the first couple matches.
- On 3/6/2025, the 2025 Quarter 2 update, made it so you always get gold after winning the first 4 matches.
