“Goblin Machine has two arms for melee and one big rocket for faraway targets. Who let a baby drive this thing?”

The Goblin Machine is a Legendary card that is unlocked from the Scrapyard (Goblins 3). It spawns a single-targeting, ground-targeting, melee, ground troop with high hitpoints and moderately low damage. It is a wood and metal mech with a Goblin emblem in the center and a Rocket launcher on its back, all controlled by a Baby Goblin. If a troop or building is within 2.5 and 5 tiles of the Goblin Machine, a Rocket dealing high area damage is launched at the troop every 4 seconds. A Goblin Machine card costs 5 Elixir to deploy.

Strategy[]

  • The Goblin Machine is a valuable tank due to his high damage Rocket, making him great on defense against smaller pushes and supporting larger pushes on offense.
  • The Goblin Machine should almost never be ignored, as doing so will easily destroy over half of the Crown Tower. This goes for all Tower Troops, but especially the Tower Princess and Dagger Duchess.
  • High damage, high health, single-targeting melee troops, such as P.E.K.K.A, Mighty Miner and Mini P.E.K.K.A, are the most effective counters to the Goblin Machine as they’ll do enough DPS to defeat the Goblin Machine with the help of a Crown Tower, stay out of the Rocket’s range, and will counterattack with their remaining hitpoints.
    • When using melee troops to defend against a Goblin Machine, it’s optimal to deploy them at least 5 tiles away from the Crown Tower to prevent the Rocket from getting free chip damage onto the Crown Tower.
    • Conversely, most ranged cards with a range less than 6 tiles, such as the Hunter and Wizard, are very weak to the Goblin Machine as his Rocket will likely lock onto these cards and quickly destroy them, providing little to no defensive value to the user.
  • With the assistance of the Dagger Duchess and an Ice Spirit, a Void can fully counter the Goblin Machine for a +1 positive Elixir trade. The Void must be played 1 tile in front of the Goblin Machine to achieve all 3 hits while the Ice Sprit should ideally be deployed 4 tiles from the bridge horizontally to buy time for the Dagger Duchess. Failing to do so will allow one Rocket to connect to the Crown Tower, dealing chip damage.
  • The Goblin Machine has a notable synergy with the Goblin Drill. The Rockets coming from the Goblin Machine will likely lock onto anything used by the opponent to defend the Goblin Drill, instantly destroying most swarm troops, like Goblin Gang, and potentially hitting the Crown Tower thanks to its area damage. Also, the Goblin Machine’s high hitpoints can tank the Crown Tower’s attacks for the Goblin Drill’s duration, leaving the Goblins unscathed to deal significant damage.
    • A similar and more deadly strategy works with the Evolved Goblin Drill thanks to the Evolved Goblin Drill ability to reappear in a different spot than before; this will likely disorient the opponent from defending properly more so than the regular Goblin Drill.
  • Surprisingly, Fisherman can activate the King Tower against the Goblin Machine. Wait for the Goblin Machine to come close to the Crown Towers, then place him 2 tiles in front of the King Tower, where he will fire a Rocket at the King Tower, activating it.
  • Using air swarms, such as Minion Horde and Bats, on offense against a defending Goblin Machine is generally unfavorable as not placing them directly on top of the Goblin Machine will cause the Rocket to target them, wiping out a large amount of troops in 1 hit and essentially wasting the user’s Elixir.
  • Due to the Goblin Machine’s Rocket, the Goblin Curse can be an important synergy as the damage amplification allows the Rocket to take out Magic Archer, Mother Witch, and Zappies all in 1 hit instead of 2. Also, the Goblin Machine will tank for the spawned Goblins, forcing an immediate response from the opponent.
  • Be weary when trying to kite the Goblin Machine into the other lane with a building-targeting troop like Ice Golem. Dropping the troop too far away from the bridge can result in a Rocket locking onto the Crown Tower and dealing chip damage.

Trivia[]

  • Goblins are small, grotesque, monstrous creatures that appear in the folklore of multiple European cultures. First attested in stories from the Middle Ages, they are ascribed conflicting abilities, temperaments, and appearances depending on the story and country of origin, ranging from mischievous household spirits to malicious, bestial thieves. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon, such as the ability to shapeshift. Similar creatures include duendes, kobolds, leprechauns, and ghouls.
  • Unlike humans, Baby Goblins are the smartest out of all of the Goblins. However, Goblins would always steal their work because of their bigger size and strength. This is why the Baby Goblins made a machine, that would be as strong as a regular Goblin, hence the name Goblin Machine.
  • Before the Goblin Machine’s release, the Rocket’s range was decreased to 5 tiles (from 5.5 tiles).
  • The Rocket shot by the Goblin Machine resembles the Firecracker’s firecracker, with the main difference being size.
  • On 1/7/2024, the Goblin Machine was made temporarily available, regardless of the Arena, to all players via a button on the Main Menu.
  • When deployed, the Goblin Machine says "Goblin Machine!".
  • Due to the Rocket’s slow projectile speed, troops with a Very Fast movement speed can actually out run the Rocket shot by the Goblin Machine under most circumstances.
