“The bigger the sack, the bigger the... amount of Goblins spawned! At low health, this Evolution will spawn a stream of Goblins. Take him out quickly!”

The Goblin Giant Evolution is a Epic card that is unlocked with 6 Evolution Shards. It spawns a Goblin Giant with identical stats to the original. Once he's at 50% hitpoints or lower, a Goblin will spawn 2.5 tiles behind the Goblin Giant every 1.5 seconds with no deploy time. The Evolved Goblin Giant has a purple beard, purple overalls, and a purple backpack holding 2 Spear Goblins. The Goblin Giant Evolution costs 6 Elixir and requires 1 cycle to deploy.

Strategy[]

  • The Evolved Goblin Giant is great on offense from its ability to quickly stack up massive amounts of Goblins at 50% hitpoints while its high hitpoints and Spear Goblins tank for support troops and cripple opposing defenses.
  • The Evolved Goblin Giant should never be ignored as he will easily destroy the Crown Tower, regardless of tower troop, and do significant damage to the King Tower when left alone.
  • The Inferno Tower is by far the best building counter to an unsupported Evolved Goblin Giant as the ramp-up damage can easily take him down while its high hitpoints by time for the Crown Towers to destroy the Goblins that he spawns, all for a +1 Elixir trade.
    • Be weary if the opponent has any stun in their deck from cards like Zap and Electro Wizard. These cards will reset the ramp-up, allowing the Goblin Giant to destroy the Inferno Tower before he goes down.
  • Cards with high single or multi target damage, such as Valkyrie, Barbarians, and P.E.K.K.A, are the best troop counters to the Evolved Goblin Giant.
    • The P.E.K.K.A can easily destroy the Evolved Goblin Giant with its very high damage per hit, but can get quickly overwhelmed by the Goblins that are leftover after the Evolved Goblin Giant goes down, likely resulting in her taking some moderate damage for a counterattack.
    • Barbarians can quickly swarm and destroy the Evolved Goblin Giant and the spawn Goblins with ease for a +1 positive Elixir trade, but are very susceptible to high damage dealing spells that may support the Evolved Goblin Giant, like Fireball; they’re a very effective but unreliable counter in some circumstances.
    • The Valkyrie can easily dispose of the spawned Goblins with her area damage being able to OHKO the Goblins while doing damage to the Evolved Goblin Giant, but her moderate DPS is not enough to fully counter him before he deals damage to the Crown Tower, resulting in a slightly damaged Crown Tower and a damaged Valkyrie for a +2 positive Elixir trade.
  • Unlike the regular Goblin Giant, the Mini P.E.K.K.A is not especially recommended when dealing with an Evolved Goblin Giant as he will be quickly swarmed by the numerous spawned Goblins and 2 Spear Goblins after he destroys the Evolved Goblin Giant. This will result in a dead Mini P.E.K.K.A and will deal slight damage to a Tower Princess or Dagger Duchess and moderate damage to a Cannoneer.
  • Certain spells work particularly well with the Evolved Goblin Giant because of the Spear Goblins in his backpack and ability to rapidly spawn Goblins.
    • The Zap and Giant Snowball make great synergies with the Evolved Goblin Giant. Their cheaper cost and damage threshold is significant, as using them on defending Minions or Goblins⁣ allows the Spear Goblins to OHKO the swarms efficiently. They’ll also briefly slow down the enemy’s defense, buying more time for Goblins to spawn and overwhelm the opponent.
    • Rage does similar damage to the Zap, allowing the Spear Goblins to OHKO the same swarms. The Rage will be able to affect both the Goblin Giant, the Goblins’ spawn time and his Spear Goblins, allowing the spell to benefit multiple troops without the risk that comes from using it on frail swarms.
    • Similarly, the Fireball synergizes well with the Evolved Goblin Giant due to the Spear Goblins being able to finish off defenders like Musketeer or Electro Wizard, allowing the Goblin Giant and the spawned Goblins to deal significantly more damage and apply much more pressure on the opponent.
    • Due to the Evolved Goblin Giant's weakness to buildings, he pairs quite well with the Earthquake. The Earthquake will destroy buildings for the Goblin Giant to continue pursuing towards the Crown Tower. The Spear Goblins and spawned Goblins can also help finish off troops that can survive a lone Earthquake, such as a Dart Goblin.
    • Lightning can be paired with the Evolved Goblin Giant for the sole purpose of destroying high-damage mini tanks and buildings used against him like an Inferno Dragon, Barbarian Hut, or Lumberjack.
    • Freeze can be a situational synergy with the Evolved Goblin Giant as its 4 second freeze duration allow the Spear Goblins to attack more of the opposing defenses while also giving extra time for the Goblins to spawn; Single target attackers, such as Prince will be overwhelmed by the influx of Goblins if not responded to properly.
  • Like the regular Goblin Giant, the Evolved Goblin Giant is, surprisingly, a reliable counter to Graveyard. The 2 Spear Goblins will rapidly take out many of the Skeletons that spawn and with the help of the Dagger Duchess or Tower Princess, it can be mostly countered while applying intense pressure on the opponent with a healthy counterattacking Goblin Giant. However, be on the lookout for anything that’s distracting the Crown Tower; the Goblin Giant by itself can’t efficiently deal with a Graveyard without its help.

Trivia[]

  • Goblins are small, grotesque, monstrous creatures that appear in the folklore of multiple European cultures. First attested in stories from the Middle Ages, they are ascribed conflicting abilities, temperaments, and appearances depending on the story and country of origin, ranging from mischievous household spirits to malicious, bestial thieves. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon, such as the ability to shapeshift. Similar creatures include duendes, kobolds, leprechauns, and ghouls.
    • In the German and Dutch language setting of the game, the Goblin Giant's name translates to "Kobold Giant". In the Spanish, Arabic, and Vietnamese language setting of the game, the Goblin Giant's name translates to "Duende Giant", "Giant Ghoul", and "Giant Leprechaun" respectively.
    • The Goblin Giant is 1 of 14 cards associated with Goblins, with the others being Spear Goblins, Baby Goblins, Goblin Gang, Dart Goblin, Goblin Demolisher, Goblin Cage, Goblin Hut, Goblin Barrel, Goblin Drill, Goblin Machine, Party Rocket, Party Hut, and of course, Goblins.
    • The Evolved Goblin Giant's render shows him with 3 Spear Goblins in his backpack. This is contrary to the 3d model showing that only 2 Spear Goblins are in the backpack.
