“This jolly green Goblin Giant stomps towards enemy buildings. He carries two Spear Goblins everywhere he goes. It's a weird but functional arrangement.”
The Goblin Giant is an Epic card that is unlocked from the Jungle Arena (Arena 9). It spawns a single-target, building-targeting, melee, ground troop with very high hitpoints and moderate damage. He also carries two Spear Goblins on his back, that can attack independently on the Goblin Giant. When he is defeated, the Spear Goblins spawn and continue attacking. He appears to be a colossal Goblin with light turquoise skin wearing a brown aviator hat, pants with stitches, backpack with ropes tied on the sides, and team-colored suspenders, and has a rope tied on his wrists, teal eyebrows, and a crimson nose. A Goblin Giant card costs 6 Elixir to deploy.

- Using a second unit to tank for the Spear Goblins after the Goblin Giant is defeated will allow them to stay on the field longer and deal more damage. This is because the Spear Goblins are untargetable shortly after spawning, meaning the opposing Crown Tower will target onto any other of the player's units in range. The Miner is particularly effective since the player has more control over when the Miner will be in range of the Crown Tower.
- The defending player should be wary of using fragile troops like Bats and Skeletons against the Goblin Giant. A mistimed deploy can result in the Spear Goblins targeting their frail swarms and quickly eliminating them. If there is not enough Elixir to deploy a tank for the swarm, the defender should wait for the Spear Goblins to lock onto the Crown Tower or a mini tank, letting the swarms gain defensive value.
- Despite the similarities this card has to a Giant, certain counters such as Musketeer, Mega Minion, Electro Wizard, Ice Wizard, Witch, Magic Archer, Flying Machine, Night Witch, Electro Dragon, Baby Dragon, Phoenix, and Wizard are less reliable due to the Spear Goblins being able to take them out before they can counterpush. As such, mini tanks with high damage per second like the Prince, Lumberjack, or the Mini P.E.K.K.A. are the most effective single card counters to the Goblin Giant, not being threatened by the chip damage from the Spear Goblins and defeating the Goblin Giant before he can get to the Crown Towers.
- His sight range is the same as a Giant, so he can be lured with a 5-2 or 4-3 building placement. Most building counters are also positive Elixir trades against the Goblin Giant.
- Unlike other tanks, the Tombstone is not recommended to be used against the Goblin Giant, as the Spear Goblins can OHKO the spawned Skeletons from the Tombstone.
- In a situation where the opponent has placed a Golem behind the King Tower, the player can place a Goblin Giant to pressure them. His medium speed, high health, and decent damage allow him to effectively punish the opponent's early Golem placement, forcing them to either defend against the Goblin Giant which will result in weakened defenders in the same lane and a lone Golem in the other lane, or ignore the attack which will result in a Crown Tower loss.
- Certain spells work particularly well with the Goblin Giant because of the Spear Goblins in his backpack.
- The Zap and Giant Snowball make great synergies with the Goblin Giant. Their cheaper cost and damage threshold is significant, as using them on defending Minions or Goblins allows the Spear Goblins to OHKO the swarms efficiently.
- Rage does similar damage to the Zap, allowing the Spear Goblins to OHKO the same swarms. The Rage will be able to affect both the Goblin Giant and his Spear Goblins, allowing the spell to benefit multiple troops without the risk that comes from using it on frail swarms.
- Similarly, the Fireball synergizes well with the Goblin Giant due to the Spear Goblins being able to finish off defenders like Musketeer or Electro Wizard, allowing the Goblin Giant to deal more damage.
- Due to the Goblin Giant's weakness to buildings, he pairs quite well with the Earthquake. The Earthquake will destroy buildings for the Goblin Giant to continue pursuing towards the Crown Tower. The Spear Goblins can also finish off troops that can survive a lone Earthquake such as a Dart Goblin.
- Lightning can be paired with the Goblin Giant for the sole purpose of destroying high-damage mini tanks used against him like an Inferno Dragon, Mini P.E.K.K.A, or Lumberjack.
- The Goblin Giant's unique ability to move and attack in separate patterns allows him to effectively kite units while simultaneously dealing damage to them. This is less effective on troops that move slower than the Goblin Giant, such as P.E.K.K.A or Elixir Golem. The result will be that the kited troop will only follow the Goblin Giant into the other lane, but not across the bridge. These tactics become more effective when used with the Dagger Duchess or Cannoneer.
- The Goblin Giant pairs well with Sparky. The Goblin Giant moves slightly faster than her, making it harder for the opponent's defender to get area damage value, and the Goblin Giant can be used after a Sparky is placed in the back to kite any opposite lane punishes into her, provided the punish targets all types of units. The Spear Goblin damage can also help spells fully take out swarms that usually counter the Sparky.
- Fast troops like the Dark Prince, Prince, and Lumberjack pair well with the Goblin Giant. Since he moves faster than other tanks, they will stay close to him for longer, allowing them to handle threats to him, with the former and the middle also being able to push him closer to the Crown Tower and connect to it earlier.
- The Goblin Giant can be a situational counter to the Lava Hound. Wait until the Lava Hound is close to death, then place the Goblin Giant in the centre of all the Lava Pups in order to not only tank the damage of the Lava Pups, but also whittle them down with the Spear Goblins carried in his backpack. He will then counterpush with the majority of his health left.
- He can be an effective counter to the Graveyard; the Spear Goblins on his back will attack 2 Skeletons at a time, along with the Tower Princess while the Goblin Giant tanks some hits from the Skeletons. Although this is a negative Elixir trade, it sets the Goblin Giant for a counterpush.
- On the contrary, he can be quite a good tank for a Graveyard. He is able to attack troops that are defending against him, while also tanking for the Graveyard, with it dealing damage to the Crown Tower.
- Along with an Ice Spirit or Electro Spirit, the Goblin Giant can prevent all damage from a Balloon, except for its death damage, and have full hitpoints for a counterattack.
- The Goblin Giant is a decent counter to the X-Bow. The Goblin Giant tanks the attacks from it, while the Spear Goblins deal damage to any additional defenders or to the X-Bow itself.
- The Spear Goblins have a longer spawn delay after death compared to other units like Battle Ram. This means that the Goblin Giant and the Spear Goblins cannot both be hit with The Log, unlike the Barbarians in the Battle Ram. Similarly, the Bowler would not immediately defeat the Spear Goblins. However, the Executioner's axe will be able to finish off the Spear Goblins when it returns back to him.
- In certain situations, the Spear Goblins of the Goblin Giant can bait spells from the opponent such as Zap. This can be capitalized afterwards with cards that are weak to those spells, such as a follow-up attack with a Skeleton Barrel.
- The Rascals are extremely effective against the Goblin Giant. The trio deal a lot of damage together, and the Rascal Boy tanks the Spear Goblins' damage. They are able to stop him for a +1 Elixir trade.

Trivia[]
- Goblins are small, grotesque, monstrous creatures that appear in the folklore of multiple European cultures. First attested in stories from the Middle Ages, they are ascribed conflicting abilities, temperaments, and appearances depending on the story and country of origin, ranging from mischievous household spirits to malicious, bestial thieves. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon, such as the ability to shapeshift. Similar creatures include duendes, kobolds, leprechauns, and ghouls.
