“Boom goes dynamite! Goblin Demolisher deals area damage and explodes on death. At low health, he charges towards the nearest building.”

The Goblin Demolisher is a Rare card that is unlocked from the Goblin Mines (Goblins 1). It spawns a single-target, air-targeting, medium-ranged, ground troop with high hitpoints and moderate damage. He has stained brown goggles, a wooden barrel with straps filled with dynamite, ash marks on his skin, and holds dynamite in his hands. When he reaches 50% hitpoints, he will stop throwing dynamite and instead charge toward the nearest building at a Very Fast movement speed, dealing high damage and pushback once exploding. This charge has a lifetime of 20 seconds before exploding on its own. A Goblin Demolisher card costs 4 Elixir to deploy.

Strategy[]

  • The Goblin Demolisher can be utilized as a mix between a Bomber and a Wall Breaker depending on the amount of hitpoints the Goblin Demolisher has left. The first 50% of his hitpoints can be used to take out opposing swarms on defense, such as Skeleton Army and Goblin Gang, while the last 50% of his hitpoints can be used to increase pressure in a counterattack.
  • The Goblin Demolisher’s death explosion is comparable to a Giant Skeleton’s death bomb, dealing less damage and a slightly smaller radius. Fortunately, the Goblin Demolisher’s cheaper cost and instant explosion makes it more reliable and versatile, especially as a reactionary device for oncoming pushes.
  • The Goblin Demolisher can be ignored under the right circumstances as he will only do about a fourth of the Tower Princess, a fourth of the Dagger Duchess, and a third of the Cannoneer’s hitpoints respectively if deployed at the bridge.
  • For an equal Elixir trade, the Fireball can fully counter the Goblin Demolisher. This is due to the Fireball doing just enough to put him into his charging phase, allowing the Crown Tower and the charge's lifetime to take him out before the blast can connect.
    • Although, the Void is actually a better counter to a lone Goblin Demolisher as its single target damage strikes will get him low enough to be taken out by the Crown Tower for a +1 positive Elixir trade.
  • With the assistance of an Ice Spirit and Skeletons, the Dagger Duchess can fully counter the Goblin Demolisher for a +2 Elixir trade. However, if the Skeletons are deployed before the Goblin Demolisher starts charging, the Skeletons will be instantly taken out; this will result in the Goblin Demolisher getting his death damage onto the Crown Tower.
  • The Prince has a particularly strong synergy with the Goblin Demolisher as the Goblin Demolisher can help the Prince with swarm cards and punishes most defensive troops with his death damage pushback and splash damage. On the other hand, the Prince applies most of the pressure with his quick charges and heavy damage against mini tanks, such as Mini P.E.K.K.A, that are capable of dealing with the Goblin Demolisher.
  • The Goblin Demolisher also has a strong synergy with the Goblin Drill. His moderate hitpoints allows him to tank the Crown Tower and poorly placed troops as the Goblin Drill does the majority of the damage. Additionally, he will charge toward the Crown Tower after a while, pushing tankier troops away from the Goblin Drill while destroying frailer troops upon connection. This combination can result in very heavy damage to the Crown Tower if handled poorly across all tower troops.
  • Despite being incapable of attacking air troops like Skeleton Dragons, the Goblin Demolisher’s death explosion can. This can be impeccably useful for grouped together air pushes that contain Minions or Bats; the death explosion will instantly destroy them.
  • If placed properly and with the help of a Crown Tower, preferably Cannoneer, the Goblin Demolisher can fully counter Evolved Barbarians and Royal Recruits for a +1 and +3 Elixir trade respectively.
  • Thanks to his low sight range and decent range, he cannot be kited into the other lane by an Ice Golem. Thus, the Ice Golem should be deployed in the same lane as Goblin Demolisher. The Ice Golem will tank the dynamite thrown at him, but the blast will connect to the Crown Tower as a trade off for a +2 positive Elixir trade.

Trivia[]

  • Goblins are small, grotesque, monstrous creatures that appear in the folklore of multiple European cultures. First attested in stories from the Middle Ages, they are ascribed conflicting abilities, temperaments, and appearances depending on the story and country of origin, ranging from mischievous household spirits to malicious, bestial thieves. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon, such as the ability to shapeshift. Similar creatures include duendes, kobolds, leprechauns, and ghouls.
  • The Goblin Demolisher is the only troop in the game to have a lifetime implemented into its mechanics.
  • The dynamite used by the Goblin Demolisher is the same held by the Evolved Wall Breakers.
