“Evolved Goblin Barrel is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. Whenever Evolved Goblin Barrel is cast, a Decoy Barrel - filled with Decoy Goblins! - is thrown in the opposite lane.”
The Goblin Barrel’s Evolution is an Epic card that is unlocked with 6 Evolution Shards. It is a Goblin Barrel with identical stats to the original. When launched, a second Goblin Barrel is launched alongside the first one, which lands on its mirroring tile in the other lane. Once the second Goblin Barrel has hit the ground, it spawns three Decoy Goblins. which are single-target, ground-targeting, melee, ground troops with very low hitpoints and high damage. The Goblin Barrel’s Evolution costs 3 Elixir and requires 2 cycles to deploy.
Strategy[]
- The Evolved Goblin Barrel can be a devastating threat on offense in both lanes if not countered properly and paired with the right cards to assist it; utilizing the identical appearances to trick the opponent into using their counter onto the wrong one.
- If placed one tile below their respective lane’s Crown Tower, Goblins and an Electro Spirit can fully counter the Evolved Goblin Barrel for a neutral Elixir trade. The Electro Spirit can easily dispose of the Decoy Goblins while the Goblins, if placed early enough, will quickly distract and take out the Goblins from the real Goblin Barrel. Additionally, the Goblins will survive, providing momentum for a potential counter push.
- The Evolved Royal Recruits have amazing synergy with the Evolved Goblin Barrel. In both lanes, three Royal Recruits will tank for both the Decoy Goblins and regular Goblins, allowing them to get massive damage if not responded to. Additionally, if the opponent uses The Log or Arrows to get rid of the Goblin Barrels, the shields of the Royal Recruits may come off, causing them to charge and apply even more pressure to the opponent. However, this combination is a hefty 10 Elixir, so it should only be done after the Evolved Royal Recruits have defended against something.
- Similarly, the Royal Hogs also have incredible synergy with the Evolved Goblin Barrel, especially if they’re split. The two Royal Hogs on each side will bait out weak spells and tank for the Evolved Goblin Barrel, increasing pressure on the opponent as they’ll have to defend both sides or else risk significant damage dealt to their Crown Tower. However, unlike the Royal Recruits, the Royal Hogs don’t attack troops, making counters like Executioner, Bowler, Valkyrie, Bomber, Goblin Demolisher, Witch, and Wizard much more effective at mitigating damage.
- The Dagger Duchess alone can fully counter the Decoy Goblins by herself no matter the placement, allowing the player to focus their counters entirely on the regular Goblins. This can’t be said for the Cannoneer or Tower Princess.
- With the help of a Crown Tower, the Evolved Goblin Barrel can fully counter a P.E.K.K.A for a +4 positive Elixir trade if placed in the center of the arena. This is due to the Decoy Goblins landing very close to the regular Goblins, adding extra damage to the Goblin Barrel. Additionally, the extra count distracts the P.E.K.K.A for longer, leaving her defenseless without a small spell, such as The Log, to back her up.
- If the user has Clone and Mirror in their deck with the Evolved Goblin Barrel and the opponent’s counters are out of cycle, using the Evolved Goblin Barrel on the King Tower may very rarely be an effective strategy at instantly winning the battle. The Evolved Goblin Barrel will deploy the regular Goblins and Decoy Goblins in very similar spots and with the extra Goblins from a Mirrored Goblin Barrel and Clone, the insane amount of Goblins can easily destroy the King Tower if not responded too, winning the user the entire battle right off the bat. However, this is extremely predictable as the opponent would be able to prepare for it from the previous regular Goblin Barrels.
- If the player is unsure on which Crown Tower the real Goblin Barrel will land, placing a cheaper ranged card, such as Dart Goblin, Spear Goblins, or Archers directly in front of the King Tower can reduce the damage a user takes from both Goblin Barrels. Additionally, activating the King Tower makes both Goblin Barrels significantly less effective, so finding a way to do such should be prioritized.
- An Evolved Cannon can prevent all but one hit on either Crown Tower when using the Tower Princess. However, it has to be placed in front of the King Tower to do this, which will prevent it from distracting any other incoming troop, either from the Evolved Goblin Barrel push or from follow-up attacks.

- Goblins are small, grotesque, monstrous creatures that appear in the folklore of multiple European cultures. First attested in stories from the Middle Ages, they are ascribed conflicting abilities, temperaments, and appearances depending on the story and country of origin, ranging from mischievous household spirits to malicious, bestial thieves. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon, such as the ability to shapeshift. Similar creatures include duendes, kobolds, leprechauns, and ghouls.
- In the German and Dutch language setting of the game, the Goblin Barrel's name translates to "Kobold Barrel". In the Spanish, Arabic, Thai, and Vietnamese language setting of the game, the Goblin Barrel's name translates to "Duende Barrel", "Ghoul Barrel", "Goblin Tank" and "Leprechaun Box" respectively.
- The Goblin Barrel is 1 of 6 evolved cards associated with Goblins, with the others being Mortar, Dart Goblin, Goblin Cage, Goblin Giant, and Goblin Drill.

- The Decoy Goblins are 1 of 5 evolved troops which can defeat themselves in one attack, the others being Skeletons, Firecracker, Wall Breakers, and Runners.
- It is currently the only permanent evolved cards in the game that hasn’t yet received any balance changes.
