- The name "Clemont" is a masculine name of French origins, meaning “merciful”.
- Trainer Clemont is a reference to Clemont from the Pokemon series, a companion of Ash from the anime and Lumiose City Gym Leader. This is also referenced in the fact that he uses an electric-related card, Electro Spirit.
