Introduction
Lavaloon Double Minions is a balance-oriented variation of the Lavaloon deck that provides great opportunities to both attack and defend. It uses cards that almost everyone has collected and it's pretty straightforward to use. It has really good offensive capabilities with the Lava Hound and the Balloon, and extremely good defense that consists of the Tombstone, Minions, Goblin Gang, and Minion Horde. It utilizes the Lightning and Zap as the big and the small spells. The biggest downside of this deck is the 4.3 average elixir cost.

Card Roles[]
- Lava Hound: Your tank. Use it to deflect all opponent fire and help get the Balloon to the tower. Try throwing it behind your princess towers to have enough time to get elixir while it reaches the bridge.
- Balloon: Your main win condition. Often times one connection from the Balloon is enough to earn you the victory. Use it behind the Lava Hound with support from other troops and spells.
- Minion Horde: Your tank killer. Used mainly to counter Mega Knight and P.E.K.K.A. In combination with the Tombstone. In some situations when you are sure your opponent doesn't have a small spell in double elixir you can use it to support Lava Hound and Balloon. In those situations you will probably be going for the three crowns.
- Minions: Good defensive troop to use against mini tanks. Can also be combined with the tombstone. In terms of attack they can often be used to provide support to Lava Hound and the Balloon. The problem is that they can easily be countered if the opponent is using splash damage troops like the Wizard.
- Goblin Gang: Also effective against mini tanks. Works the best when thrown around the target so that the Goblins surround it. They easily counter Mini P.E.K.K.A. Hog Rider, Ram Rider, bandit and even Wizard if used correctly.
- Tombstone: A building. Used to pull tanks aside from the towers and help Goblin Gang and Minions counter them. Can counter Mini P.E.K.K.A. Hog rider, works great against the Mega Knight and dashing cards like the Prince and the Bandit.
- Lightning: Your big spell. Used mainly offensively to help with destroying buildings like the Inferno Tower and kill annoying defensive troops like the Baby Dragon, the Wizard, the Musketeer, and similar cards. Be careful to properly time when to use it as it is really expensive, but can be a great asset in both attack and defense. In my opinion a really good and underused spell.
- Zap: Everyone should know how to use the Zap, it's the most recognizable spell in the game. It is used for crowd control to counter skeletons, goblins and minions in most cases. It is also used to stun enemy troops and to reset ones that have a longer attack cooldown.
Strategy[]
The strategy of this deck is similar to other Lavaloon decks. If you are looking for a deck that you can use according to your play style and one that is pretty versatile you should probably play something like a bridge spam deck. The Lavaloon decks don't have a lot of flexibility, and most Lavaloon players play similarly. This deck can essentially be played in three most popular ways:
- Completely defensive
- Completely offensive
- Balanced
If you are playing completely defensively you avoid attacking your opponent and instead focus on defense until double elixir comes when you will have a great advantage considering the fact that you are using expensive cards that deal really high offensive damage. This strategy is good if you are playing against an opponent who has a deck with better defensive than offensive capabilities because you have a better chance to break their defense in double elixir. Use Tombstone and Minions to defend against mini tanks and dashing cards and Minion Horde and Goblin Gang to defend against tanks. If you face a flying troop that deals high damage like the Balloon, Phoenix, and every card that ends with "Dragon" you can combine Lightning and Minions to deal with that push.
When playing completely offensive your main idea is to defeat your opponent with your first push so that you don't even give him enough time to try and attack you. This is a good tactic if you are facing a hog cycle deck or any deck that doesn't have good anti-air defense. It's a pretty simple and straightforward strategy. Put the Lava Hound down behind your princess tower, when it reaches the bridge introduce the Balloon and the goblin gang to the party and do your best to support the attack with the Lightning, zap, and the minions. You can also throw the minions first and then the goblin gang, it doesn't really matter.
When you are playing balanced you are playing a balanced game where you exchange blows with the opponent and try to win as many elixir trades as possible. Here you don't necessarily have to wait for double elixir to attack. Try to find an opening, bait your opponent‚'s spells so you can launch a push. If you are sure your troops won't get showered with arrows you can use Lava Hound + Minion Horde to attack. This is a really high risk, high reward strategy but should work when executed correctly. If you can't seem to find an opportunity to attack you should play defensively until your opponent makes a mistake that costs them a lot of elixir. Follow the cards and the elixir and focus on the time, elixir and cards that your opponent can, and can't have in hand at each moment. Make sure to come out on top in every elixir trade and be patient. When your opponent makes a mistake you attack immediately.
