Introduction
The recent changes were announced. The rise in buildings and new champions that threatened hog cycle in some way gained popularity. Old threats such as Barbarians gained newfound popularity, and these changes hit the Hog Rider like waves against a cliff. Hog players, elite or just new, have struggled with the meta game. They decided to create a Hog Valkyrie EQ deck. This deck is not only easier to use, but is better at the metagame at large. However, this deck compromises the speed. Then, this deck rose in popularity which is designed against the metagame without compromising on speed. The hog players realized they could beat decks that they never could before. I call it ”Advanced” because it is a new adaptation of Hog Cycle. You can also call it ”Hog Variation” or if you are a ”Lame sticking to the mud”, 2.5 Hog FS EQ cycle.

Card Roles[]
- Skeletons: Ah yes, the Skeletons. They have great defensive utility for the dirt-cheap cost of 1 Elixir. It was so good before that they had to nerf the amount of skeletons from 4 to 3, a 25% nerf that prevented it from beating Musketeer. Yet they are still good and are used as a cycle and distraction card.
- Fire Spirit: A cycle card and anti-swarm card. Now I know what you are thinking, why not Ice Spirit? It got an absurd, unnecessary buff recently, a 30% freeze duration increase. The thing is, it has the extra power kick that allows it to work well, especially since Earthquake slows enemy troops.
- Ice Golem: Brr… Is there an Ice Golem nearby, or it is just me. I move and attack slower now. It costs 2 elixir and has a handy death damage that also slows troops down. It has many defensive utility like kiting. Despite its awesome appearance, it does very little damage on its own, so using it on offensive is as smart as intentionally sticking your hand into boiling water.
- The Log: This angry tree trunk is a useful spell, it synergies well with Hog rider and the knockback provides defensive utility. It can be used to take out swarms.
- Earthquake: Earthquake is Arena 12 for some reason, maybe because it’s spooky? Well, it is spooky against X-Bow players, and forces them to rocket cycle. It is mainly used on offense.
- Cannon: Arguably the most important card of this deck, the Cannon provides defensive power incomprehensible to the human mind. It is a building, which means it can pull all enemy troops. It is tied for the cheapest building with tombstone, sitting at a very solid (is that even a thing?) 3 elixir. It also dishes out great damage, especially for its elixir cost, acting like a ”mini” crown tower.
- Musketeer: A powerful defensive card and your anti air. Can do a lot of things.
- Hog Rider: HOG RIDERRRRR! The star of this deck and your win condition. It has a fast move speed and almost always gets a hit on the enemy tower. It does most of the damage.
General Strategy[]
- Apply pressure and chip the enemy tower.
- Try not to overcommit
- Instead, split push
- You should not use hog rider on defense unless you absolutely need to stall out for the last seconds of a match
- Try different styles and see which one suits you the best.
Game Plan[]
- Single Elixir: Cycle some cards and spam hog rider like shit to do chip damage. Eventually you will take the tower to low HP.
- Double Elixir: You should stall the enemy push as long as possible while continue chipping their tower. You should take down a tower, if not proceed to overtime.
- Overtime: Spam defenses and earthquake cycle until you destroy their tower or win tiebreaker.
Leveling Priority[]
1) Ice Golem: Upgrade this card, in fact try to level it up all the way to level 14. Buy a ton of Book of Rare cards or Rare wild cards, or simply do his mastery. You need this to be high level or you WILL witness the horror of skeletons/bats surviving with a sliver. It is common for people to lose matched simply because this card is underleveled. Don’t be like one of them, because do you like losing? If yes, you need therapy, if no, you need to upgrade Ice Golem.

Basic Techniques[]
Kiting[]
Calm down, you do not need a kite to do this! Place a troop slightly in another lane so that enemy troops will follow it only to get kited to the other land and eat a lot of arrows from the princess towers.
Secret Techniques[]
These are secret techniques that world champions use. Don’t tell anyone else these techniques.
JACK pull[]
Against a Balloon Push, cycle a cannon to pull the balloon, then cycle the fuck out to get another cannon to pull the balloon to the king tower. You will take a lot of damage, but you stopped the push and is in a good position to COUNTERpush.

Card Matchups[]
These are the matchups to difficult cards.
Golem[]
Do not punish until you know you will win because good golem players would lightly defend with a cheap card or just straight up ignore your push and continue building up their push. Instead, spam multiple defensive troops and pray that you take out their push. Then counterpush.
Mega Knight[]
This card is not very good, not gonna lie, but it is spammed at every corner of the universe. Trust me, I’ve seen decks like MK hog cycle and MK X-Bow. Chain Pull him with a cheap card, and pull him to your king tower to activate it. Do not use cannon on the second pull or you will understand why I say that. Do not overcommit on one lane or you will understand why they have brought Mega Knight in the first place.
Now, if your in high ladder, you will most likely face a Bait Deck. Mega Knight decks substitute big spells so they could fit more cards. Due to this, most Mega Knight decks are usually bait decks, most commonly the Skeleton Barrel, but also Royal Hogs and even Graveyard.
Matchups to Common Decks[]

Hog Cycle (Standard 2.6)[]
You should spam defense while cycling earthquakes at your tower. It’s really, really simple.
