Clash Chess

Chess Royale is a game mode that can only be played in Special Event Challenges and Party Mode. It was added to the game as a collaboration of Supercell with Chess.com. In this mode, there is a King's Tower, but no Crown Towers, and they are instead replaced with a singular tower, with an Archer Queen on top of it. In addition to these towers, three more towers are available on each side of the Arena. These three towers have a Magic Archer, a Prince and a Bomber on top, representing the Bishop, Knight, and Rook from a traditional chess game. Furthermore, 8 Royal Recruits are found in front of all the towers, representing the Pawns from chess. To win the battle, players have to destroy the King's Tower before theirs is destroyed or the Archer Queen Tower before theirs is destroyed.

Towers[]

King's Tower[]

Main article: King's Tower

The King's Tower is the main Crown Tower of this mode. The King's Tower in Chess Royale functions identically to the King's Tower in regular 1v1 battles, meaning that if it is destroyed, the battle ends immediately. Unlike in regular 1v1 battles, the King's Tower in Chess Royale is always active, regardless on whether he has been attacked or not.

Queen Tower[]

The Queen Tower is the secondary Crown Tower of this mode. It acts as a replacement for the Crown Towers from regular 1v1 battles. Destroying this tower will grant 1 Crown for the player. An Archer Queen can be found on top of it, and it attacks similar to a regular Archer Queen.

Pawns[]

The Pawns are the troops that are located in front of all the Towers. They resemble Royal Recruits and act identically to regular Royal Recruits except that they cannot move. Despite being immobile, they are considered a troop, meaning that they cannot be targeted by building-targeting troops and Earthquake will deal its troop damage to them.

Strategy[]

  • Even though they count as a troop, the Royal Recruits cannot move from their place. Because of this, they can be easily attacked by ranged units like the Musketeer and Magic Archer. Troops with chain attacks like the Electro Dragon are especially effective, as they can hit multiple of them with a single attack.
  • The Knight Towers will periodically spawn Princes that will charge towards the enemy side. It is recommended to weaken those Towers with a Fireball and eventually destroying them, to prevent the opponent from spawning Princes, making it easier for you to create a push. Using Mirror with the Fireball allows you to destroy the Knight Towers without having to rotate through another Fireball in your card cycle.
  • Unlike other game modes, there are no ways to expand the spawn area of cards like by defeating a Crown Tower. Because of this, X-Bows and Mortars do not have enough range to reach any of the opposing Towers. As such, they have to be used defensively, which are not very effective at doing on their own.
  • It is generally more recommended to attack the side with the King's Tower instead of the side with the Archer Queen Tower, as the King's Tower deals less damage.
