Blaster is a secondary trait in Merge Tactics. When multiple Blaster troops are on the field, they gain +1 Attack Range and deal +extra damage based on the distance that the target is from them.

Effects[]

“Blasters gain +1 Attack Range and deal more Damage to distant targets”

Every match, Blaster troops get +1 Attack Range and deal more damage, depending on the target's distance to the troop.

“[2] +10% Damage per Hex”

When 2 Blaster troops are on the field, they deal +10% Damage for every Hex the opponent is away from them.

“[4] +15% Damage per Hex”

When 4 Blaster troops are on the field, they deal +15% Damage for every Hex the opponent is away from them.

Strategy[]

  • Due to the extra damage the further the target is, Blaster troops should be placed in the furthest line of hexes in the field. This allows Blaster troops to deal maximum damage possible.
    • Executioner will benefit the most from this if properly aligned, as his axe on higher merge levels goes further away, hitting backline troops for a lot of damage. Baby Dragon also greatly benefits from this, since he's a splash troop.
  • The Blaster trait is one of the cheapest traits to invest on, as it costs only 12 Elixir to fully activate it, and minimum 5 Elixir to partially activate it. As such, the player can easily upgrade their troops to a higher merge level early on, gaining an advantage. When paired with the Goblin trait by playing a Goblin, the player can rack up a lot of Elixir to upgrade their troops (especially Spear Goblin) and play other traits.
  • Musketeer is an important troop to have whenever the player wants a Blaster set-up. This is because she will push back enemies every few hits, maintaining the distance between them and Blaster troops for the most damage per distance available. Upgrading her makes her even more valuable, as she will knockback enemies more often due to requiring less hits to do som
  • Due to being composed of ranged cards, Blaster is easily countered by Assassin, as enemies will jump directly to them instead of focusing on the meat-shields in the frontline. However, if the player has a Musketeer and properly defends the entire set-up, she will have enough time to push back 3 Assassin troops, giving Blaster troops more time to defeat enemies before they get defeated.
  • The Blaster trait can also be combined with other traits to give the player a bigger advantage:
    • With Spear Goblin's Goblin trait, the player can get a lot of Elixir from the Goblin troops gifted by the trait's ability, especially with the 2-troop effect, giving them an advantage in upgrading the set-up's other units, including Spear Goblin. With Spirit Empress, the played will get even more bonus Elixir, and with Goblin Queen, she has a 33% chance of giving more Goblin troops for upgrading.
    • With Musketeer's Noble trait, the player has access to meat-shields that take reduced damage due to the trait's effect to them in the backline, making enemies stay away from Blaster troops, and those dealing increased damage due to their distance from them. Musketeer will deal more damage due to also being under Noble, benefitting from the trait's buff to backline Noble units.
    • With Executioner's Ace trait, he will get an attack speed buff, making him attack faster and benefit from Blaster's effect more often. The other Ace troops can also be used as a meat-shield for Blaster troops, as P.E.K.K.A. and Mega Knight's health, as well as Bandit's dashes, will make sure enemies stay away from Blaster troops for an increased amount of time.
    • With Baby Dragon's Fire trait, his damage will increase even more whenever he defeats a troop, which isn't hard to achieve, given his splash radius, damage, support from other troops, and Blaster's effect. Wizard also benefits from this, but since he isn't a Blaster, he won't get the buff.

Trivia[]

  • The word "Blaster" means "a person or device that blasts or demolishes things". The word's origin comes from the verb "blast", meaning "a destructive wave of highly compressed air spreading outwards from an explosion", originating from the 16th century "blǣst" of Germanic origins, initially referring to "someone or something that blasts". While all Blaster troops can blast or demolish things with their weapon of choice (or fire in the case of Baby Dragon), only Musketeer dons a weapon that blasts in order to attack enemies.
