• 9 cards costed 4 Elixir during Clash Royale's game launch on 4/1/2016; those being Tesla, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Valkyrie, Hog Rider, Fireball, Skeleton Army, Baby Dragon, Goblin Barrel, and Freeze.
• On 2/2/2016, the February 2016 Update, decreased the Mortar's cost to 4 Elixir (from 6 Elixir).
• On 9/2/2016, the Chest Rewards & Card Balance Update, decreased the Musketeer's cost to 4 Elixir (from 5 Elixir).
• On 29/2/2016, the March 2016 Update, added the Dark Prince and Poison as a 4-Elixir card.
• On 18/5/2016, a Balance Update, decreased the Furnace's cost to 4 Elixir (from 5 Elixir).
• On 4/7/2016, the Tournaments Update, decreased the Goblin Barrel's cost to 3 Elixir (from 4 Elixir). It also added the Lumberjack as a 4-Elixir card.
• On 30/9/2016, the Inferno Dragon was added as a 4-Elixir card.
• On 20/10/2016, a Balance Update, decreased the Skeleton Army's cost to 3 Elixir (from 4 Elixir).

• On 7/12/2022, a Balance Update, increased the Monk's cost to 5 Elixir (from 4 Elixir).

2023

• Starting from 9/1/2023, new temporary 4-Elixir cards appear in Special Challenges.
• On 3/7/2023, the July 2023 Update, allowed 4-Elixir cards to evolve, improving their stats and giving them new abilities.

2024

• On 17/6/2024, the Goblin World Update, added the Goblin Demolisher as a 4-Elixir card.

2025

• On 6/1/2025, the January 2025 Update, added the Rune Giant as a 4-Elixir card.
• On 5/5/2025, a Balance Update, decreased the Goblin Hut's cost to 4 Elixir (from 5 Elixir).
