“These Evolved Barbarians upgraded their hardware! Evolved Battle Ram deals damage and pushes enemies back during its charge. Once it connects to a building, it won't stop charging!”

The Battle Ram's Evolution is a Rare card that is unlocked with 6 Evolution Shards. It spawns a single-target, building-targeting, melee, ground troop with moderate hitpoints and high damage. After traveling 3 tiles, it will begin to charge towards its target. Dealing double damage if connected whilst charging while damaging and pushing back all pushback capable troops within its way to its target. Once it reaches a building, it will continue to bounce back and repeatedly deal damage to its target. Once destroyed, it will break and reveal 2 Evolved Barbarians underneath. The Battle Ram's Evolution costs 4 Elixir and requires 2 cycles to deploy.

Strategy[]

  • The Evolved Battle Ram is incredibly powerful on offense, easily taking out a Crown Tower if left ignored no matter what tower troop is used.
  • Unlike the regular Battle Ram, the Evolved Battle Ram should never be countered with any light ground swarms, such as Skeleton Army and Goblin Gang. If these swarms are placed in front or to the upper sides of the Evolved Battle Ram, it will deal damage to these swarms, instantly destroying them.
  • Similar to the Fireball’s pushback, the Evolved Battle Ram's pushback will activate for all pushback capable units, such as Hog Rider and Knight.
  • Since the Evolved Battle Ram cannot hit air troops, cards like Minions, Mega Minion, and Evolved Bats can be good counters to it when paired with the Crown Tower; heavily reducing the damage it deals to the Crown Towers for a positive Elixir trade and setting up for a potential counterattack.
  • Like the regular Battle Ram, any card that has a stun or pushback can reset the Evolved Battle Ram’s charge, making cards like Zap, Ice Spirit, and Electro Spirit great as cheap support cards for other cards, such as Mini P.E.K.K.A, to deal the majority of the damage without being knocked back by the charge.
  • For 1 more Elixir, the Bowler is the best one card counter to the Evolved Battle Ram due to his high hitpoints, good damage, and constant pushback being able to prevent it from getting much value while also serving as a counterattack. It’s recommended to place the Bowler far away from the Evolved Battle Ram to take advantage of the Bowler’s range and prevent the Bowler from being knocked back from the charge during his 1-second deploy time. After the defense, the Bowler will be fairly healthy and can be used for a counterattack, if possible.
  • For a +2 Elixir trade and with the Cannoneer's assistance, the Evolved Battle Ram can be fully countered by an Evolved Ice Spirit and Skeletons. The Evolved Ice Spirit should be deployed as soon as the Evolved Battle Ram crosses the bridge away from its front to prevent the Evolved Ice Spirit from being destroyed. Once it breaks open, Skeletons should be deployed near the upper middle of the player’s side to kite and destroy the Evolved Barbarians that spawn from it.
    • Alternatively, the player can use a Giant Snowball and Evolved Skeletons to fully counter the Evolved Battle Ram for a +1 Elixir trade. The Giant Snowball will cancel the charge as the Evolved Skeletons take it down, potentially creating a threatening counterattack based on what tower troop the opponent is using.
  • In specific situations, the Evolved Battle Ram can be used to push many troops away from the Crown Tower and onto a distraction card, such as Goblins. This is especially helpful against cards with high damage like Lumberjack because the distraction card will keep it occupied for a long time, reducing the damage dealt to the Crown Tower and giving the player a very threatening counterattack.
  • The Evolved Battle Ram has great synergy with the Earthquake. The Earthquake will destroy or significantly weaken defensive troops and buildings; allowing the Evolved Battle Ram and Evolved Barbarians underneath to more easily connect to the Crown Tower for a 7 Elixir commitment.
  • If well-timed and placed, the Evolved Battle Ram can mostly or fully counter a Goblin Barrel depending on true red or true blue and what tower troop is used. The Battle Ram’s charge damage can kill Goblins, reducing the number of stabs done to the Crown Tower if it’s already charging and the Goblin Barrel is in its path to the nearest building. Destroying up to 2 of the 3 Goblins that spawn from it.
  • The Evolved Battle Ram synergizes very well with the P.E.K.K.A as its high health can take hits for the Evolved Battle Ram while its high damage can easily eliminate any tank killer or building the opponent may place to defend them. Additionally, the Evolved Battle Ram's charge damage will decimate swarm cards that can destroy the P.E.K.K.A for a positive Elixir trade. The Evolved Battle Ram will also push the P.E.K.K.A forwards if placed correctly, applying extra pressure to the opponent and making it easier for the P.E.K.K.A to reach defending buildings, such as Inferno Tower and Tesla.
  • Since the Evolved Battle Ram can easily destroy a Crown Tower when ignored, it may be a good idea to use it in the other lane to apply extreme pressure to the opponent when they're on a low amount of Elixir.
    • Conversely, the P.E.K.K.A is a pretty good counter to the Evolved Battle Ram. Her damage with the help of the Crown Tower will destroy the Ram and the Barbarians will ease. Giving the player deadly counterpush potential with a very healthy P.E.K.K.A. Although, the initial interaction is a -3 Elixir trade, so the P.E.K.K.A should only be used when the player is up at least 3 Elixir.
  • Due to its high damage and Evolved Barbarians, the Evolved Battle Ram is very strong as a distraction for an offensive X-Bow. The charge will knockback anything the opponent uses to defend the X-Bow, Clearing the path to the X-Bow. Notably, its high damage will take a sizable chunk of hitpoints out of the X-Bow and any defensive buildings each connection. However, if the Ram is destroyed, the Barbarians will not distract the X-Bow, so it will lock onto the Crown Tower if no other distraction units are present. In this case, it's highly recommended to use something cheap, such as a Fire Spirit, to distract the X-Bow for that short time.

History[]

2024

  • The Battle Ram's Evolution card was added to the game on 1/4/2024, in the April 2024 Update.
  • On 14/5/2024, a Balance Update, increased the Evolved Barbarians' attack speed boost to 3 seconds (from 2 seconds), decreased the Evolved Barbarians' hitpoints to 110% of the originals' (from 125%), and removed the Evolved Battle Ram's ability to push back large units.

Trivia[]

  • A battering ram is a siege engine that originated in ancient times and was designed to break open the masonry walls of fortifications or splinter their wooden gates. In its simplest form, a battering ram is just a large, heavy log carried by several people and propelled with force against an obstacle; the ram would be sufficient to damage the target if the log were massive enough and/or it were moved quickly enough. The earliest depiction of a possible battering ram is from the tomb of the 11th Dynasty noble Khety, where a pair of soldiers advance towards a fortress under the protection of a mobile roofed structure, carrying a long pole that may represent a simple battering ram.
    • In the German, Norwegian, Turkish, Indonesian and Finnish language settings of the game, the Battle Ram's name translates to "Battering Ram". In the Japanese, Chinese, Persian, Malaysian, Thai, and Vietnamese language settings of the game, the Battle Ram's name translates to "Siege Barbarian", "Barbarian Battering Ram", "Battle Tower", "Crasher", "Fight Bumper", and "Castle Breaking Weapon" respectively.
  • The Battle Ram’s Evolution is 1 of 2 evolved troops with a charge, the other being Royal Recruits.
  • The Battle Ram's Evolution is the only evolved card that can spawn another evolved card, that being Evolved Barbarians.
