“Master Builder has been tweaking this machine for years. Finally, his most prized invention is Arena-ready, and he'll make sure everyone knows that Builder mean boss.”

The Battle Machine is a Ruler that is unlocked in the Bronze III League. Its Ruler Modifier involves giving the player one random 1/2/3/4-Star building into battle in Rounds 1/3/5/8, but with a drawback of -1 max Team Size at turn 5 and onwards. The Battle Machine takes the appearance of a wood and metal mech with a large metal strap at the center with golden rivets and a crown logo, while wielding a large hammer, and being controlled by the Master Builder, who takes the appearance of a man wearing a brown suit and boots, a belt, and a blue aviator cap, has blue eyes, orange eyebrows, beard, and mustache, while also wielding a hammer and carrying a pencil on his right ear. Its animation when selected has it falling from the top of the screen, then it and the Master Builder raising their right hand with the Battle Machine's hammer emitting a golden glow, and then the Master Builder jumping out of the Battle Machine, landing on the ground, and crossing his arms, before going into their idle animations.

Modifier: Building Master

“Brings one random 1/2/3/4-Star building into battle in Rounds 1/3/5/8, -1 max Team Size.”

The player is given a random building in rounds 1, 3, 5, and 8, with the building being 1-Star in turn 1, 2-Star in turn 3, 3-Star in turn 5, and 4-Star in turn 8. However, on turn 5 onwards, the player has -1 Team Size, meaning that they can only use 5 troops at a time. The player cannot receive the same building twice.

Strategy

  • With Battle Machine's buildings, the player can have a wider array of strategies, even with reduced team size from turn 5 onwards, as the player will have access to 5 troops and 4 (or 5 if the player is lucky with certain Modifiers buildings at once.
  • It is important to note that buildings do not affect the player's team size, but also won't help them in damaging the enemy ruler, which results in them losing if the player has only buildings left. As such, troops still should be protected accordingly, or buildings will go to waste.
  • The player's buildings should be placed according to their behavior:
    • Inferno Tower should be placed in the second row from the enemy's side. That way, it can target both units in the frontline and those who have infiltrated into the backline (Assassin (Trait)Assassin, Mega Knight, and Bandit) while the player is able to place a troop to tank for it, like P.E.K.K.A., Mega Knight, Electro Giant, Golden Knight, and Skeleton King.
    • Mortar should be placed in the second-to-last row, away from the corner hexes. That way, it can cover the entire battlefield while it stays away from the enemy's frontline units, and still allowing the player to protect it against Assassin (Trait)Assassin set-ups by making the backline free for troops. However, it can be placed in the corners (or alternatively, in the hexes to the side of the corner hexes in the last row) if the player lacks an X-Bow or an Elixir Collector.
    • Tesla should be placed in the first row from the opponent's side. Placed there, it can be used to stall enemies from reaching the player's backline troops and buildings. If the player is struggling with Assassin (Trait)Assassin, they can also place Tesla in the second-to-last row to target them.
    • X-Bow should be placed in any hex of the last row because it's able to cover the entire arena, no matter where it is. It is also the last place that enemy troops can reach if they do not have Assassin (Trait)Assassin, Princess, Executioner, or Mortar to target it, giving the X-Bow more time to re-charge. If the enemy has Assassin (Trait)Assassin, then the player can place their X-Bow in the second-to-last row. It's preferred to place the X-Bow in the hexes on the side of the corner hexes in the last row, or on the corners of the second-to-last row.
    • Elixir Collector's position can be interchangeable with X-Bow, as it can be placed in the second-to-last row against Assassin (Trait)Assassin and in the last row for any other set-up, while still preferring the hexes on the side of the corner hexes in the last row, or the corner hexes of the second-to-last row.
      • X-Bow and Elixir Collector's positioning (or Mortar's in the absence of one of these) are important because it traps a troop placed in the corner of the last row, which is beneficial if the player opts to place a ranged troop in there, making it extra protected because enemies would have to defeat one of the buildings around to defeat the troop inside, which mitigates the fact that the player only having buildings still causes a loss, while the ranged troop is still able to damage them. Good troops to place in there include Musketeer, Witch, and Princess (preferably with Blaster (Trait)Blaster). To do so, one building must be placed in the hex to the side of one of the last row's corner hexes, whereas the other must be placed in one of the second-to-last row's corner hexes.

Trivia

  • The Battle Machine originates from Clash of Clans, another game made by Supercell, as a Hero troop of the same name. Its controller, the Master Builder, also originates from there as the main player's builder in the Builder Base.
    • The Battle Machine is the only Ruler that originates from Clash of Clans.
  • The Battle Machine is 1 of 2 cards exclusive to Merge Tactics, with the other being Elixir Loong.
    • However, the Master Builder is seen controlling the Flying Machine in its card render.
  • The Battle Machine has the shortest animation when selected out of all Rulers, with the animation lasting for 3 seconds.
  • Because of the Battle Machine's size, it's the only ruler that does not have a podium.
  • Battle Machine being referred as "COCR3112" by the card's description may be a reference on Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, as "CoC" and "CR" are common abbreviations for the respective games. The number of the version being "3112" also alludes to the date 31/12, which is the last day of the year.
  • Buildings can actually merge like normal troops do, provided that a Modifier that spawns a building is active and a player with Battle Machine summons the exact same building on turn 1.
  • The Battle Machine's Ruler Modifier is inspired by his Clash Mini Passive ability, except that he spawns buildings instead of Gizmos.
    • Both the Merge Tactics Battle Machine and the Clash Mini one are able to spawn an Elixir Collector.
  • When winning a match, the Battle Machine performs a dance.
  • When defeated, the Battle Machine kneels down as the Master Builder passes off in a position where he nearly falls off.
